Customer service was awesome and helped to quickly support me when I needed to upgrade to a larger crate. Not your average dog crate. Very pleased. And the pup loves it.

5 Great Exercises You Can Do With Your Dog

5 Great Exercises You Can Do With Your Dog

It’s no secret that many dog breeds require extensive daily exercise, and you should be sure to provide opportunities for your pup to release their energy. When dogs don’t get enough physical activity, they’re more likely to lash out, become destructive, and develop other behavioral issues. Like humans, they may become overweight without proper diet and exercise. With that said, check out these five great exercises you can do with your dog to keep you both in good shape and health.

Walking or Jogging

Walking or jogging together is one of the most popular exercises to do with your dog, and it’s an excellent way to release energy, stay in shape, and bond. Whether you walk inside somewhere, take a lap around your neighborhood, or walk up and down a low-traffic road, you and your pup will get the physical activity you need to stay healthy.

It’s always a good idea to keep your dog on a leash whenever you’re in a public space, as it will keep them safe and prevent them from running off. Leash training may need to come first if you haven’t worked with your pup already.

Fetch

Playing fetch is an excellent exercise option for your pup if you don’t want to do any extensive activity yourself. Simply throw a ball or another toy, let your dog run to get it, and have them bring it back to you. Many dogs will play fetch for hours, while others get bored after a few retrievals. If your pup isn’t worn out after playing fetch, consider adding another exercise to their routine.

Frisbee Race

Most dogs will run after something as soon as you throw it, which is good exercise for them. If you want to play fetch but get some physical activity yourself, consider a frisbee race. Stand next to your dog, throw the frisbee, and then race them to get it. Depending on your pup’s speed, you may beat them to it—keep them interested in the game by letting them win.

Tug-of-War

Tug-of-war is one of the most popular games to play with your dog, and it’s much more of a workout for your pup than it is for you. A relatively quick but intense game of tug-of-war equates to a longer, less intense walk. Therefore, you should consider this activity for a workout if you’re pinched for time. Choose a durable rope for larger dog breeds to ensure the toy lasts, as they can pull extremely hard against you.

Kayaking

There’s nothing better than kayaking together during the summer months, and it’s a perfect activity for dogs who love water. Be sure to train your dog to sit calmly on your kayak; otherwise, you both may end up in the water. You can let them swim next to you if they want to jump in the water.

With these five great exercises you can do with your dog, you may need to buy a few dog products online to ensure you have everything you need. Your pup will enjoy exercising with you, and they might even motivate you to work out more often.
